It’s absolutely amazing what he’s done for me

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2021

I can’t begin to put into words how good Dr. Raskin has been. I called his office one day after seeing 3 other doctors for a wrist injury I had sustained in a car accident in 2012. A few other offices refused to see me because I had not one but two prior surgeries for the injury. Dr. Raskin’s staff, after I explained my situation to the best of my ability to the extremely patient receptionist, I was scheduled for an appointment.

At this point, I felt completely hopeless; I could barely move my hand at all without substantial pain, which left me unable or barely able to do many things, and one of the doctors I had seen had suggested a wrist fusion, which would make my career as a programmer end before I had a solid start. Once I saw Ashley, one of his PAs, I started feeling better about my situation. When I met Dr. Raskin, he knew exactly what I was talking about and agreed that the doctor who did the previous surgeries wasn’t very good and joked around a bit, helping me feel a lot better.

He immediately sent me for an MRI, and when Dr. Raskin got the results, he spoke to me directly over the phone and told me that I’d need another surgery, and he wanted to do it ASAP. I had the surgery scheduled at Surgicare of Manhattan, and the team he had with him was also amazing. Before the surgery, they allowed my now-husband to come in with me (major jitters) and stay with me until I had to go into the OR, still joking around with us to alleviate my fears.

While my previous surgeries took an hour, Dr. Raskin took 3 hours, performing repairs on everything in my hand that needed work. When I came to from the surgery, Dr. Raskin was available and spoke to me when I woke up (Believe it or not, the other doctor who performed surgery LEFT without speaking to me.) and was SO EXCITED and HAPPY that he was able to perform the repairs I needed so badly and tell me that he thought that this would be the last surgery I needed. I went home with a big smile on my face, and had a mini-post-surgical party.

The next few visits, I went through a series of casts made by Dr. Raskin’s PA Gabi (who isn’t with the practice anymore, unfortunately!) and referred through to therapy. If I ever had a question, I could call and leave a message and within the day get an answer. My appointments were always kept, even if I messed up the time and came an hour late, which may or may not have happened… (thank you for your patience!)

Unfortunately, during the recovery process from my wrist reconstruction, we found out that I also was suffering from cubital tunnel syndrome. Dr. Raskin sent me to OT, and when the pain didn’t resolve, it was surgery time again in December of 2015. Surgery on a nerve is well nerve-wracking, and despite trouble with getting the IV started, Dr. Raskin and the SurgiCare staff were excellent. This time, no casts, but some OT for about a year and a half (I think!) before things got better. This was a very rough surgery to come out of the other side on, and the care I got from Dr. Raskin and his team was once again phenomenal.

Under Dr Raskin, my hand and elbow recovered beautifully. It’s absolutely amazing what he’s done for me. From his work, I was able to resume normal life — taking classes, playing video games with my son, get into a fast track program for my new career, an internship. Best of all, I finally graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity this spring.

It’s now 2021, nearly 9 years after my accident, and since Dr. Raskin performed his surgeries, I have full motion and strength back in my wrist and no pain in my wrist/elbow besides some arthritis when it rains. Dr. Raskin is truly amazing, and everyone who works there is wonderful. I cannot recommend him enough, especially if you feel like your case is a lost cause like I thought my case was. Thank you so much.

“Dr. Raskin is an amazing surgeon who is very caring towards his patients”

Dr. Raskin is an amazing surgeon who is very caring towards his patients. I had a very complicated hand problem that no other doctor could figure out what it was. Dr. Raskin was able to operate on me and I haven’t had problems with it since I had the surgery in 2018. This past year, I was getting numbness up my other arm and went straight to Dr. Raskin. I had carpal tunnel. In February of 2020 I had the carpal tunnel surgery and I’m so glad Dr. Raskin did the surgery. He is the only surgeon I trust to do surgery on my hands. He is truly the best and I highly recommend him.

Had a mass on my hand and was back and forth to at least 6 doctors before being referred to Dr. Raskin. Dr. Raskin knew exactly what was going on with my hand. Six months later, the strength in my hand is better than ever and I am not in pain anymore. Thank you Dr. Raskin.

“If I ever lose a digit, this is the place I’m going to!”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2020

I broke my left wrist in my martial arts class, and Dr. Raskin and crew patched me up in no time. They all have a great disposition and extremely knowledgeable, which was great, because 6 weeks later I broke my other wrist. Again, Dr. Raskin and Co. helped me out. Even though these were fairly simple breaks and just required a cast, going to see them was the highlight of my day. If I ever lose a digit, this is the place I’m going to! I can’t recommend him enough.

“I have full use and strength in my hand and wrist, and never, ever feel discomfort or weakness”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2020

I saw Dr. Raskin after seeing a different hand surgeon, who, after many months and multiple cortisone shots, told me that there was nothing else he could do for the pain and loss of strength in my dominant hand and wrist. Dr. Raskin started conservatively with a cortisone shot. Unlike all the other shots I have had on various parts of my body, Dr. Raskin utilized an ultrasound to pinpoint the injection exactly into the joint. Unfortunately, the shot did not provide long-term relief. Dr. Raskin suggested surgery, which I agreed to. When I awoke, Dr. Raskin explained to me that he repaired a tendon and expected a full recovery with reinstated use of my hand. As he predicted, so it was. At this point, I have full use and strength in my hand and wrist, and never, ever feel discomfort or weakness. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Raskin. He cares about his patients and is the best of the best. I wouldn’t ever think of seeing anyone else.

They say at the end of every tunnel there is a light and at the end of ours was you! You were the answer I had been working for this last year. I’m sorry it took so long but it was worth the wait! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping our son and in such a very kind and caring manner. We were comfortable from our first hello with you and I wasn’t even that nervous during his surgery. He was in the best of hands and for this I am forever grateful. I can only wish that everyone who ever needs hand surgery finds you first!

The dedication you all have and share is what allows a person to heal so well, both physically and emotionally.

“Dr. Raskin is a great diagnostician as well as the best surgeon”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2019

I was referred to Dr. Raskin from a friend. If it weren’t for Dr. Raskin I would not be able to function. Dr. Raskin is a great diagnostician as well as the best surgeon. It’s good to be treated with professionalism and care. Dr. Raskin takes time to actually talk to you and explains everything in detail.
His entire staff, especially Yasmin, is friendly and helpful. Dr. Raskin’s PA, Ashley, is the the best. I referred my friend to the office and she was so happy after her surgery.

    “He is an exceptional physician”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2018

To say that my experiences with Dr. Raskin and his staff exceeds my expectations is an understatement. This goes way beyond Dr. Raskin’s skills as a surgeon (which are top notch) and speaks more to his overall demeanor as a human being. He is an exceptional physician that truly cares about his patients and takes the time to invest in getting to know them personally. The entire staff goes above and beyond for patients and makes them feel both comfortable and special. This is a very special practice and one that I would highly recommend to friends and most importantly my family.

    “The best hand surgeon”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2018

When I fractured my index finger on my dominant hand, I had no idea whether or not I needed surgery, but was told that if I did end up needing surgery, I’d need to have the procedure ASAP; otherwise, the bones would start to heal incorrectly on their own.

I was desperate for guidance, but unable to find a hand surgeon in Portland, OR – where I live – who would see me on short notice; and so, my family doctor in New York referred me to Dr. Raskin.

When I called Dr. Raskin’s office out of the blue, I was hoping only that someone in his office would agree to review my x-rays, and offer their opinion.

I was transferred to Dr. Raskin’s PA, Ashley Madsen, who was not only sympathetic to my situation, but was so acutely competent that I was immediately reassured I’d come to the right place. Ashley gave me her email address without hesitation, and told me she’d have Dr. Raskin look at my x-rays shortly.

(I couldn’t believe it. I was just a voice on the other end of a phone 3,000 miles away.)

I sent Ashley my x-rays, and she called me an hour later. She explained in detail that Dr. Raskin said I indeed needed surgery. Ashley was patient and able to answer all of my questions. She is the only PA I’ve encountered wherein I felt like I was not just in the presence of a doctor, but a seasoned doctor, at that.

Ashley then said that Dr. Raskin offered to do my procedure on his next surgery schedule, just five days later.

I was SHOCKED. Not only was someone actually willing to help me from so far away – without even knowing me – but that “someone” was a world class surgeon. (For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Raskin is big time. Suffice it to say that the halls of his offices are covered with signed photographs from celebrities, thanking him for his work. Sure, that’s cool, but what’s relevant about this is that those celebrities all have livelihoods which require the unconstrained use of their hands – musicians, marquee athletes, etc. The point is: when the best in the world need the best hand surgeon, they’re calling Dr. Raskin.)

Needless to say, I was on a plane the next day.

When I met Dr. Raskin, I was terribly stressed from my ordeal, and concerned about the severity of my fracture. When I left his office, though, I was calm and reassured because Dr. Raskin’s depth of expertise was like no other doctor I’ve encountered. What’s more, he’s incredibly warm and accessible (and funny, I might add), which is uncommon for surgeons of his acclaim.

From a results perspective, Dr. Raskin made a measurable difference in the rest of my life. I have complete and unlimited use of my index finger on my dominant hand, and can engage in any activity I choose.

I don’t think I appreciated how important Dr. Raskin’s ability was until after my procedure, when I realized I was going to be able to do all of the things I needed and wanted to do in my life. (Even my Occupational Therapist was impressed with the range of motion I achieved, which he, too, attributed to Dr. Raskin’s ability.)

I will always be thankful to Dr. Raskin for being so adept, and similarly thankful to Ashley for being so flat-out capable.

My life was changed because of the kindness and competency of these two people.

I would be remiss if I neglected to mention Yazmin, who runs the billing function for Dr. Raskin. Yazmin typifies “ownership.” She untangled billing complications with my insurance company as if they were her own, and never once made me feel like I was alone in the billing process. She never brushed me off, never referred me to someone else, and never told me to just call my insurance company. There were no dangling mystery bills after the fact, no surprise charges from the surgical center or any other ancillary provider, no double-billing, etc. Yazmin simply took care of everything, and she got it all correct in the process, right down to the decimal point. She’s a gem and a worthy member of this great team.

    “Phenomenally talented surgeon”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2018

Dr. Raskin is not only a phenomenally talented surgeon, but is also incredibly kind and caring. His PA Ashley Madsen is a perfect complement to him. Highly skilled with the same caring personality. Dr. Raskin performed two basal joint surgeries – one on each of my hands – the first in 2014 and the most recent this past June. The surgeries relieved the pain in my joints and restored function. My recovery went smoothly. I would highly recommend The Raskin Center.

    “A true artist”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2018

My experience as a patient with Dr Keith Raskin, and Ashley Madsen, PA has been one of the most positive and successful medical treatments of my life. I unfortunately have had two surgical procedures and broken bones which required a very experienced and sensitive physician such as Dr Raskin and his team. Sometimes I feel like “Humpty Dumpy” but Dr Raskin always gets me back together and utilizing my hands again. Did I mention, I am a jewelry designer, and I would only trust the hands of Dr Keith Raskin and his staff. Many procedures require wearing a cast, and Ashley Madsen, is a true artist. Together we created fabulous “hand accessories” while I was recuperating. Several injuries will require working with an OT. Dr. Raskin has brought the best hand therapist into his practice to make the healing as “painless and comfortable” as possible. Being a patient of this practice will bring you new friends as well.

“I am as good as new!”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2018

Dr Keith Raskin and Ashely came very highly recommended to me as he saved my sister’s life! I had a fall and broke the Hook of the Hamet, a small bone in the bottom of your hand. I also had a trigger finger on the same hand. Dr. Raskin was able to fix both issues at the same time through some very delicate surgery and one year later I am as good as new! The time and attention given to me in the office was fantastic, I never felt like I was being rushed out or that they had to rush to the next patient. They answered all of my questions and just did a great job all around. So happy I chose Dr Keith Raskin for my hand surgeon!

    “Top notch surgeon”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2015

After a 6 week search to find a surgeon to repair my son’s non-union schaphoid fracture, we found Dr. Raskin. We knew immediately upon meeting him and his wonderful PA Abby that we had found the right place. They have a thorough approach and take a long time getting to know you, explaining the entire surgical and aftercare process. You immediately get a sense that they care. Dr. Raskin runs a highly personalized practice and his dedication to the well being of his patient (my son) was apparent upon the first visit. He is a top notch surgeon who really has a passion for his craft as a micro surgeon. Dr. Raskin operates with precision and he and his staff gave excellent post operative care. I will always be grateful that we followed our instincts and took the time to find the best, most caring and meticulous hand & wrist surgeon, Dr. Keith Raskin.

“You will not find a better hand surgeon than Keith Raskin”

    5 5 Star Rating - Written on 2013

You will not find a better hand surgeon than Keith Raskin. Let me say that again. You will not find a better hand surgeon than Keith Raskin.

He is not only extremely talented, but he is a stand-up man with a gentle, funny, empathetic bedside manner that is rare with doctors and surgeons.

I came to see Dr. Raskin over two years ago when I injured my finger and had a previous surgeon mangle my finger in several surgeries to fix two tendons.

As you may know, surgeons, generally speaking, do not like to operate on other surgeons’ work, but Dr. Raskin looked me over and proposed a surgery unlike anything I had ever heard. (Let’s just say it involved a button.) He was able to repair my finger, and I returned to him for a follow-up scar removal surgery. His track record for successful surgeries is spotless.

Dr. Raskin is amazing. His walls are covered with photos of people he’s been able to help; he is also very modest about it, but I know he’s treated celebrities and professional athletes.

I always say I wish I had gone to see Dr. Raskin first. He came highly recommended to me by a friend whose son was operated on by him. Most people find him through recommendations.

His assistants, Gabi and Ashley, are lovely and are there with you all the way, from the office to the operating room. They call to check on you after surgery and are always available.

I love Dr. Raskin! How many patients can say that about their surgeons?
